ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a process for the continuous thickening of suspensions in a filter concentrator with plug-shaped filter elements, which are fixed on individually removable collect- ing tubes, without interrupting the filtration, individual collecting tubes are disconnected at determined intervals by means of quickly closing valves, and are flushed back by means of compressed air across a tube conduit and valve. Through the pressure surge, the filter elements are freed of solids, which sink to the bottom and are periodically removed across the discharge connection. In this manner, the filter- ing capacity can be kept constant without interrupting the filtration .
