Abstract: The present invention relates to an ophthalmic instrument for measuring the relative pressure of fluid inside an ocular globe. The instrument is comprised of an elongated surgical instrument adapted to penetrate the ocular globe. A pressure sensor is mounted on the instrument for moving in response to relative pressure changes in the intraocular fluid. A transducer is provided, communicating with the pressure sensor, for generating a signal in response to movement of the pressure sensor. Finally, a unit is provided for transmitting the signal to a point external of the instrument.
