ABSTRACT A drum-shaped, rotary wind-powered engine has a cylindrical tube mounted coaxially with respect to the rotation axis of the engine, and circular end plates on each end of the cylindrical tube . At least four sails with a curved streamlined profile which swivel to a limited degree near the edge of both end plates on swivel axes are mounted parallel to said rotation axis. The sails are distributed on the circumference of the engine at equal circumferential distances, and are swivellable with their noses in front on the swivel axes in the region between the edge of the end plates and the cylindrical tube
