63293-2922 ABSTRACT REMOVAL OF CATALYST REMNANTS FROM POLYMERS A new process for removing palladium catalyst remnants from copolymers of carbon monoxide and olefinically unsaturated compounds is disclosed. The process comprises contacting the copolymers with a complexing agent for palladium at a temperature of at least 10°C higher than the temperature at which copolymerization has been effected. Removing at least part of the catalyst remnants improves the overall process economy and increases the stability of the resulting polymers when processed in the molten state, substantially reducing their discolouration, decomposition and gelling.
