Abstract of the disclosure An apparatus for processing thermoplastic plastics material being sensitive to air oxygen or air humidity has a receptacle (1) in which the material is comminuted by a rotating comminuting and mixing tool (4) fitted with several blades (4'), The comminuted material is removed from the receptacle (1) by means of an extruder screw (10). The receptacle (1) is closed on its top substantially gas tight by means of a sluice (14) and can be evacuated by a pump (33) connected to the interior of the receptacle (1) by a pipe (28). Thereby the undesirable effect of oxygen on the material to be processed can be prevented. The pipe (28) may also serve to introduce a protected gas into the interior of the receptacle (1) in order to protect the material therein against the undesirable effect of oxygen or humidity (Fig.1).
