Method for the production of optically active bicyclo[3.3Ø]octane-dione-carboxylic acid esters according to formula I Image (I), where R1 and R2 jointly represent an oxygen atom or the radical -O-X-O- with X in the meaning of a straight or branched-chain alkylene group with 1 to 7 C-at- oms, or R1 and R2 each represent the radical OR4 with R4 in the meaning of a straight or branched-chain alkyl with 1 to 7 C-atoms, and R3 represents a straight or branched-chain alkyl group with 1 to 10 C-atoms, characterized in that a prochiral bicyclo[3.3Ø]octane- dione-dicarboxylic acid diester according to formula II Image (II), where R1 , R2 and R3 have the above-indicated meaning are enantioselectively saponified and decarboxylated with en- zymes.
