ABSTRACT Novel N-hydroxyethylated 2,4,6-triiodo-aminoiso- phthalic acid bis-trihydroxybutylamides of the general formula I Image (I) (in w hich each R represents trihydroxybutyl) and a process for their manufacture. The novel compounds being radio-opaque are out- standingly suitable for use as X-ray contrast agents having an excellent tolerability and good water-solu- bility and may be used for various examination methods using X-ray diagnosis; they may accordingly be made up into X-ray contrast preparations with physiologically tolerable carriers.
