Abstract of the Disclosure The present invention provides, in a process for production of foamed articles of polypropylene resin comprising pre-expanded beats of propylene resin under gaseous pressure, filling a mold capable of being closed but not sealed with the compressed beads, then venting the mold and heating the beads and fusing them with steam thereby to produce a molded article, the improvement wherein the pre-expanded beads of polypropylene resin have two melting points when measured by differntial scanning caloimetry and a peak fusion heat QH based on the melting point peak at the higher temperature of the two melting points being 0.3 to 3.5 cal/g, are introduced compressively into a mold so that the compression as defined herein is 10 to 60%. According to the present invention, foamed articles of polypropylene having minimized dimensional shrinkage (good dimensional accuracy) and excellent fusion and surface appearance can be produced at high rates of production.
