ABSTRACT The invention relates to a process for the production of sintered magnesite from magnesium hydroxide in which filter cake is size reduced in a stream of hot air to a certain particle size, after which the material is heated and calcined and the dehydrated powder thus obtained is hot briquetted and introduced hot into the sintering zone. This process is distinguished by its high economy on heat and by the production of a readily sinterable dehydrated powder.
