Abstract Novel imidazolides (N-acylimidazoles) of the formula I Image (I) wherein R1 is hydrogen, C1-C12-alkyl or phenyl, and R2 is hydrogen, or R1 is ethyl, and R2 is methyl, or R1 is hydrogen, and R2 is phenyl or methyl, and R3 is a group of any one of the formulae II - VI Image (Il) (III) (IV) (V) (VI) wherein X1 is hydrogen, chlorine or N02, and X2 is hydrogen or N02. The imidazolides are suitable as curing agents for polyepoxide compounds.
