PROCESS AND KIT FOR DRUG DETECTION ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention provides a process for the presumptive identifica- tion of cocaine or heroin street drug comprising applying to a sample of the suspected drug a reagent which gives a characteristic color reaction in the presence of trace amounts of organic bases or acetic acid. The invention also provides a prepacked test kit for detecting cocaine and heroin street drug comprising a reagent which gives a characteristic color reaction in the presence of trace amounts of organic bases or acetic acid.
