ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a safety device for steel drums, which contain pyrophoric metal catalysts, from which hydrogen gas evolves. The safety device comprises a hollow plug body, which carries in its bottom part a pressure relief valve, in its middle part an oxidation catalyst, and at its upper end a secur- ing cover, which cover is permeable to gases.
