ABSTRACT In the known tree falling machines the collecting arm pressure is not controllable. In my invention the pressure is controlled. SPECIFICATION (1) This invention relates to tree falling machines. (2) It is common in tree falling machines for the collecting arm to clamp the tree tightly while cutting thereby causing strain and damage to the tree. (3) My invention overcomes this damage associated with other tree collecting arms by being adjustable to hold the tree only securely enough to prevent it from falling while cutting. (4) In my invention the collecting arm (#3) is adjustable to the tree size by a stop-arm (#4) operated by a spring loaded single acting hydraulic cylinder (#5). The collecting arm (#3) is loosely secured around the tree while the cutting is done, to prevent the tree from falling. When the cutting is finished, the stop-arm (#4) is pulled back by the spring loaded single acting hydraulic cylinder which is operated by main hydraulic pressure from hydraulic line #11 and controlled by an electric, hydraulic solenoid switch (#9). The solenoid switch is activated at the end of the cutting cycle by an electric switch (#10) mounted to the cutting device, and the collecting arm is tightened around the tree by hydraulic cylinder (#8) and then the tree is falled to the desired direction.
