ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for creating aqueous solutions by ion exchange uses a weakly acidic cation exchange resin, alone or in combination with one or more strongly basic anion or strongly acidic cation exchange resin , to remove ammonia and other volatile amines along with corrosion products and metal ion leakage from a solution while substantially reducing the quantity of acid required to regenerate the cation exchange resin.
