ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a process for the formation of water soluble copolymers of acrylamide and alkyl poly(etheroxy)acrylate which are excellent viscosification and drag reduction agents, wherein the process includes the free radical copoly- merization of acrylamide monomer and alkyl poly(etheroxy)acrylate monomer in an aqueous medium under nitrogen conditions in the presence of free radical initiator at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient time to effect copolymerization.
