ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a cable winding system for electrically powered vehicles or working machines operated in cramped underground conditions and receiving its driving power through a flexible cable. The excess length of the cable depending on a given position of the vehicle is collected within an assembly mounted on the vehicle. A cable is wound on a collector which rotates about a vertical axle, disposed on the center line of the vehicle. The final exit point for the cable relative to the vehicle is determined by a guide means which is mounted on the end of an extension arm swivelling concentrically with the axle of the collector. A moment effecting the winding and tightening of the cable acts between the extension arm and the collector.
