PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne un procédé d'oxydation électrochimique du cérium 3+ en cérium 4+ en émulsion, lequel procédé est tout particulièrement applicable aux solutions de sulfate céreux. Selon ce procédé, on effectue simultanément l'oxydation électrochimique du cérium 3+ en cérium 4+ en phase aqueuse sulfurique, et l'extraction du cérium 4+ formé dans une phase organique extractive du cérium 4+ émulsionnée dans ladite phase aqueuse. Ceci permet d'obtenir après séparation des phases, une phase organique chargée en cérium 4+. Ce procédé est très intéressant dans la mesure où il peut être mis en oeuvre dans une cellule d'électrolyse classique, sans séparateur, avec de très forts taux de conversion.
