ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel vitamin D analogues are provided herein. Such analogues are represented by the General Formula I: Image I in which Formula X stands for hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, halogen or hydroxy; Y stands for hydrogen or hydroxy, R1 and R2, taken together with the carbon atom numbered 25, can form a saturated or unsaturated C3-C9 carbocyclic ring, including an unsubstituted aromatic ring or an aromatic ring which is substituted at any possible position or positions with C1-C6 alkyl, halogen or hydroxy, R3 stands for hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl, R4 and R5 each represent either hydrogen, or when taken together constitute a bond with the result that a double bond connects carbon atoms numbered 22 and 23, and the two undulated bonds to carbon 24 indicate that both R and S isomers form at this center, or bioreversible derivatives thereof. Such novel compounds have a ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE - Continued favourable therapeutic index and are particularly useful in pharmaceutical compositions which are useful in the treatment of human and veterinary disorders which are characterized by abnormal cell proliferation and/or cell differentiation.
