In the silicon nitride sintered bodies, a J phase solid solution is present in an intergranular phase. The silicon nitride sintered bodies are produced by steps of raw material-formulating, molding and firing. The J phase solution is precipitated in the inter- granular phase by temperature-descending step or a reheating step after the firing.
