Abstract The present invention refers to a method for sensing changes in the filtering effect of filtering devices (2) for separation of contaminations from gaseous streams with indication of the changes by means of signal emittance. The invention further refers to a device for carrying out the method. To achieve a considerably more sensitive sensing function,changes in voltage-between filtering means (5) of the filtering device (2) are sensed, and signals are emit- ted when a certain change in voltage takes place. A simple and reliable device to carry out the method includes a con- trol circuit (9) in which resonance voltage from filter cells (5) of the filtering device (2), influence signal emitting comparators (15-18) for emittance of light, sound and control signals in dependance upon changes in voltage between the filter cells (5).
