ABSTRACT Novel herbicidally active amidinoazoles of the formula Image in which R1 represents an optionally substituted radical from the series comprising alkyl, aralkyl, aryl and heteroaryl, R2 represents an optionally substituted and/or optionally fused six-membered aromatic hetero- cyclic radical containing at least one nitrogen atom and Az represents an optionally substituted azole radical, that is to say a five-membered aromatic heterocyclic radical containing at least one nitrogen atom, or metal salts or strong acid adducts thereof.
