ANTI-PROLIFERATIVE ACTION OF dsRNAs ON TUMOR CELLS ABSTRACT Disclosed are therapeutic compositions and methods useful for the treatment of cancer. Double stranded ribose nucleic acids (dsRNAs), in combination with and in the absence of exogenously applied interferons (IFNs), have been found to inhibit tumor cell proliferation, convert tumor cells to normal cells, and correct cancer-related immune defects in individuals predisposed to developing cancerous conditions. The therapeutic effect generated by the dsRNA-IFN combination is synergistic. dsRNAs also cooperate synergistically with other substances having an independent capability to normalize cancer cells.
