ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A read/write head for use within a disk drive includes a vertical slot that extends longitudinally from a front surface of the head adjacent a side thereof. A horizontal slot extends from the front surface to the side of the head at an angle. A ferrite core is disposed within the vertical slot and the core winding extends into the angled horizontal slot and is spaced from the head arm thereby eliminating electrical shorting.
