ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An elliptical column type non-aqueous electrolyte battery comprising an elliptical column type spiral electrode assembly formed by winding a positive and negative electrode plate of lithium metal through a separator, around a resilient member positioned at the center of said electrode assembly and normally expanding said electrode assembly from the center toward outward directions of larger and smaller radius por- tions, the larger and smaller radius portions of the battery casing being in a size ratio with respect of each other of about 2:1, said battery having a voltage of about 3 volts.
