ABSTRACT Oral compositions such as toothpastes, mouthwashes, lozenges and chewing gum containing an antimicrobial agent which is effective against plaque/gingivitis and mouth odor are disclosed. They comprise: A. a safe and effec- tive amount of an antimicrobial selected from the group consisting of N-tetradecylpyridinium salts, N-tetradecyl 4-ethylpyridinium salts, and mixtures thereof; and B. a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
