ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Electrical circuitry for selectively amplifying audio signals in a superdistorted mode and a non-distorted mode. The circuitry comprises a series connection of a variable gain first amplifier subcircuit, a variable gain superdistortion amplifier subcircuit, and a distortion subcircuit. The circuitry further includes a switching subcircuit for selectively controlling the first amplifier subcircuit, the superdistortion amplifier subcircuit and the distortion subcircuit so that the superdistortion amplifier subciruit provides substantially unity gain irrespective of any gain to which it is adjusted while the first amplifier subcircuit provides that gain to which it is adjusted and the distortion subcircuit is disabled in one position of the switching subcircuit to produce a non distorted audio output. For another position of the switching subcircuit, a superdistorted audio signal is produced.
