A B S T R A C T PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYMERS OF CONJUGATED DIENES AND OPTIONALLY MONOALKENYL AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS Process for the preparation of polymers of conjugated dienes and optionally monoalkenyl aromatic hydrocarbons by polymer- ization of conjugated diene and optionally monoalkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomers in the presence of a hydrocarbon diluent, a hydrocarbyl alkali metal compound and a Lewis base having the formula Image wherein R1 is an alkyl group having 2-18 carbon atoms; R2 and R3 are hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms; R4 is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms and R5 is an alkyl group having 1-18 carbon atoms.
