Abstract The invention relates to a marking device shaped like a ring and designed to be coaxially mounted on a wire or the like. The invention solves the problem of extending the diameter interval within which the device can be used. The solution suggested by the invention is, at both sides of the marking symbols on the outer wall of the ring, to provide a number of openings permitting use of the ring also on a thinner wire which when mounted extends in a radial plane of the ring.
