ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A valve construction and method of making the same are provided, the valve construction comprising a housing having a valve chamber therein, a valve member rotatably carried by the housing in the valve chamber thereof and having a valve stem extending from, the chamber, and a seal unit carried by the housing to prevent leakage from the valve chamber to the exterior of the housing and having an annular seal member sealing against and completely around the stem while permitting rotational movement therebetween, the seal unit comprising a pair of annular metallic retainers press- fitted together in telescoping, relation and holding the annular seal member therebetween in compressed sealed relation therewith.
