COMPRESSOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved rotary compressor of sliding vane type in which a rotor head portion is provided where the peripheral surface of the rotor approaches the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder so as to divide the interior of the cylinder into a discharge side and a suction side for fluid. The cylinder is formed with a seal portion where a clerance between the rotor and cylinder at the rotor head portion is formed into a wedge-like configuration in a rotational direction by an arc having a radius of curvature smaller than the radius of the cylinder.
