D-5535 C-3343 A POSITION CONTROL MECHANISM FOR A VEHICLE IGNITION LOCK Abstract of the Disclosure A steering column mounted-ignition lock mechanism and a floor-mounted transmission shift lever have an interconnecting mechanism which prevents the steering column from being locked unless the transmission lever is in the "Park" position. This mechanism also prevents the trans- mission lever from being moved from the "Park" position when the ignition lock mechanism is in the "Lock" position. The interconnecting mechanism is generally comprised of a pair of slidable pins each having a recess portion for a vehicle ignition lock which permits the movement of a latching ball upon predetermined positioning of the slidable pins.
