ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to indanone-oxyalkyl- piperazine derivatives and their addition salts with acids, the preparation of these compounds, and pharmaceutical formulations which contain these compounds and can be used as sedatives, transquilizers or neuroleptics or in the treat- ment of hypertension. The derivatives have the general formula (I) Image where R1 is hydrogen or hydroxyl and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, halogen, trifluoromethyl or nitro and n is 0, 1 or 2 if R1 is hydrogen, and is 1 if R1 is hydroxyl.
