ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rotating electric machine has windings of various phases constituting a 3-phase armature winding, which wind- ings are divided into first and second groups. A first group of windings associated with each phase is energized at the start of the electric rotating machine. A second group of windings also associated with each phase is con- nected so as to generate an induced electromotive force having an equal magnitude to that produced by the first group. This second group is connected in parallel with the first group and energized during normal running of the rotating electric machine.
