ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a coated paper, in particular for foodstuff purposes, which has a weight per unit area of less than 50 g/m and is obtainable by coating a paper substrate with aqueous emulsions of linear polydimethylsiloxanes having reactive terminal OH groups and a pro- portion of silicone resin, and also if appropriate with the additonal use of tin salts as catalysts. The coated paper substrate is then dried. When the coated paper is used as an insert for frying in pans, at least in part in place of fat or oil, it permits temperatures which are up to 50% lower than those required conventionally when fat or oil is used. A considerable saving in energy can thus be obtained. Additionally the taste of the fried food is not adversely affected in any way.
