THIOPHENONE DERIVATIVES AND PROCESS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel thiophenone derivatives are disclosed which are useful as thiotetronic acid precursors and have the formula: Image wherein R represents a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C8 alkoxycarbonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted benzyl- oxycarbonyl group or a p-toluenesulfonyl group. A process for their preparation is also disclosed.
