WICKETED BAG WITH EXTENDED SIDE SEALS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improvement is provided in a wicketed bag including a side sealed bag of flexible thermoplastic material with its rear panel having an extended lip with wicket holes therein. The improvement includes side sealed marginal extensions of the front bag panel which confront the extended lip, the length of the extensions extending the side seals beyond the bag mouth such that forces imposed on the bag mouth during loading of a product into the bag, while wicketed, act on the side seals below their extended termination points. During product loading, the bag preferentially tears at the wicket holes rather than at the side seal termination points. Preferably, the side seal termina- tion points are at or above the tops of the wicket holes.
