ABSTRACT A dilatation-catheter comprises an expansible balloon which is adapted to be advanced, along a guide-wire laid in a guide-catheter, into a restricted coronary artery. An inflation-tube is provided for the purpose of expanding the balloon. The latter consists of a tubular external cover and a tubular internal cover connected thereto at the axially directed edges. Located between the internal and external covers of the balloon is an annular interior surrounding an open central lumen extending axially through the balloon, a flow of blood to the coronary artery being maintained through the said lumen during dilatation.
