A B S T R A C T A scaffolding system includes a transom, a ledger and a standard clamped together at right angles to each other. The transom has a vertical open-sided and open-ended channel at its end which engages the standard, and has slots in its lower edge for receiving diametrically opposed lugs on the standard. The transom also has a clamp inwardly of the channel for clamp- ing a ledger against the standard through an aperture in the base of the channel, and the ledger has a locating member thereon to prevent longitudinal movement relative to the channel and the clamp.
