ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A self-storing, inflatable pool cover designed to float to the surface of the pool when inflated and form over this surface an insulating air dome, and to sink to, and spread over, the bottom of the pool when deflated. This pool cover comprises a plastic membrane shaped to substantially conform with the inner periphery of the pool and ringed by an endless, peripherical tube provided at one side with at least one bleed hole opening onto the bottom of the membrane, and with an air intake at the other side opposite to the one side. An inflatable bladder is fixed slightly off center onto the membrane. A closable air-vent is connected to the membrane near the bladder, and an air-line connectable to a compressed air supply is provided to supply air to the spout of the bladder and to the intake of the tube in this order. In use, connection of the air line to the air supply while the air vent is closed causes the bladder to inflate and to raise the center of the membrane in such a manner that this membrane may trap the air subsequently forced by the air supply through the endless tube and the bleed hole. This raises upwardly from the bottom of the pool until it floats to the surface of the same. In contrast, opening of the air vent while the air line is disconnected from the air supply, causes the trapped air to escape, the bladder to deflate and the cover to sink to the bottom of the pool.
