A METHOD OF AND AN APPARATUS FOR TREATING SEWAGE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of and an apparatus for treating sewage is disclosed wherein incoming sewage is in turn put into a balancing tank, an aeration tank and a precipitation tank, settled sludge in the precipitation tank being returned to the aeration tank, which aerates the sewage in adjusted relation with its flow rate, but permits intermittent aeration in the absence of sewage flowing into the aeration tank and prolonged aeration after termination of sewage flow into the tank. - 32 -
