- 1 - Abstract The present invention is directed to a tire bead breaker that can be efficiently and safely operated by one person and that effectively breaks the bead at two positions on one side of the tire rim in one step. It is particularly suitable for use with large truck tires but can be adjusted for use with smaller truck and car tires. The tire bead breaker of the present invention comprises a generally rectangular frame, pivotable arms attached to the upper part of the frame, bead breaker shoes attached to the pivotable arms, a generally circular tire rim and wheel supporting platform attached to the lower part of the frame and hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders positioned to raise or lower the upper part of the frame. The device is relatively compact and lightweight and can be mounted on wheels to make it very maneuverable.
