ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fluid coupler comprising in combination a female coupling member with an incorporated valve and a male coupling member adapted to be detachably inserted in one end portion of the female coupling member is disclosed. The female coupling member is shaped in the form of a generally cylindrical tube with an axial bore the front end of which receives said male coupling member and the rear end of which receives a connection plug to be connected to a source of fluid. Formed intermediate the axial ends of the female coupling member is an annular flange which projects inwardly thereof to define a valve seat. Slidably received within the rear portion of the female coupling member is a valve member which is formed on its rear end with a head portion having a diameter larger than the inside diameter of said annular flange and being cooperative therewith to define said valve. A compression spring is interposed between the valve member and the connection plug to bias the valve member forwardly into a closed position. Also slidably received in the front portion of the female coupling member are a tubular member and a thrust member which are operatively connected to the valve member in such a manner that when the male coupling member is inserted, the tubular member will force the valve member through the thrust member against the biasing force of the compression spring to open the vale for allowing the fluid flow from the valve into the male coupling member through these members. The tubular member is formed on its periphery with a sealing member having a diameter larger than the inside diameter of the annular flange to be in sealing contact with the inner surface of the front portion of the female coupling member. With this arrangement, the valve member and the tubular member both having the enlarged diameter sections larger than the inside diameter of the annular flange can be easily assembled into the portions on both sides of the annular flange by being inserted separately through the rear and front openings of the female coupling member. Also, the valve member can be easily assembled into the female coupling member prior to the insertion of the compression spring and therefore without bearing the compression force of the spring.
