Abstract The invention provides a method and apparatus for forming uniformly apertured, resilient plastic webs exhibiting fine-scale three-dimensional characteristics for fluid permeability. The uniformity of aperturing is controlled by the character of the forming surface on which the plastic material comprising the web is subjected to a fluid pressure differential. The forming surface is produced by superimposing and bonding a multiplicity of planar apertured sheets with coinciding apertures of dissimilar sizes, and then causing the uppermost surface to assume a radius of curvature greater than that of the lowermost surface. This avoid the use of support members which contact the webs during forming thereof and disrupt the permeabllity thereof.
