ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A collapsible dispensing container or tube hav- ing a deformable body and a thermoplastic headpiece welded to the body. The headpiece is formed by injection molding an admixture of 20-87.5 percent of polyethylene and/or ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, 5-40 percent of at least one of polyamide, ethylene/vinyl alcohol copoly- mer, polyvinyl alcohol and polyester, and 7.5-40 percent of an alkylcarboxyl-substituted polyolefin. In the injec- tion molding, the admixture is heated to a temperature above the melting point of all components of the admix- ture under conditions that minimize admixing of the admixture and the resultant heterogeneous molten mixture is then injected into a mold. The resultant headpiece has improved barrier properties with respect to a number of substances, e.g. oxygen.
