RETAINING WALL STRUCTURE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A retaining wall constructed of the following components: A plurality of toe elements, or a continuous toe element, located substantially in front of the retain- ing wall; A plurality of heel elements, or a continuous heel element, located substantially within the backfill of the retaining wall; A plurality of wall elements, or one wall element, spanning between vertical components of a structural assembly which is spaced at desired distances; A plurality of structural assemblies, spaced at desired distances, comprising horizontal and vertical components and tie elements where required by struc- tural considerations, said structural assemblies being secured to the toe and heel elements, thus forming together with the said toe and heel elements and the wall elements, one integral retaining wall structure. The invention differs from the prior art by the following features: Location and spacing of the toe and heel elements, Saving of material and labour, Saving of excavation quantities, Reduction of lateral pressures against the wall in cases of a sloping backfill surface, Reduction of soil pressures at the toe.
