ABSTRACT A process for the production of a compound body comprising a thermally cured flocked foam plastic layer secured to a porous carrier strip. The foam is applied to the strip in uncured form, and flock fibres are applied to the foam. The flocked foam upon the carrier strip is passed through a heating tunnel to cure the foam and the cured foam and carrier strip are passed through n heated roller press or plate press. The foam in its uncured state has a consistency such that it superficially penetrates the porous carrier strip but does not penetrate it completely. By this process it is possible to obtain an exactly reproducible structure even though the treatment takes place with heated pressure rollers or pressure plates after passage through the heating tunnel. Further, it has been shown that it is possible to obtain a product that to a very large extent is easy to handle and can be adapted to complex surfaces.
