22626-200 ABSTRACT A screw feeder is disclosed which has a reversible axle for feeding material in a definite direction. The axle is pro- vided with feed elements having two feeding flanks, each formed as a portion of a right-hand and a left-hand thread screw. The feed elements preferably are attached on annular members, which are arranged one after another along the axle. Each feed element is rotatable about the axle through a definite angle in relation to adjacent feed elements, so that the feed direction is maintained irrespective of the rotation direction of the axle. The novel feeder is particularly useful for feeding cellulose-containing material to a grinder such as a disc refiner, but it has other feeding applications, for example, the feeding of coal to a boiler.
