Mo-2337 OC-004 PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF 5-AMINO-ACET-2,4-XYLIDINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention is directed to a process for the preparation of 5-amino-acet-2,4-xylidine com- prising: (a) hydrogenating a mixture of mono-nitro- acet-2,4-xylidines which contains 5- nitro-acet-2,4-xylidine in the presence of a catalyst and in the presence of water, (b) removing the catalyst after the hydrogena- tion is complete, and (c) recovering 5-amino-acet-2,4-xylidine.
