Abstract: The present invention relates to an interval counter for use in a microcomputer having a central processor. The interval counter is for timing the duration between successive input signals and is comprised of a receiver for storing a preset number corresponding to a preset time duration, a counter for periodically decrementing a count number in order to produce a timing indication when the count number is fully decremented and a controller responsive to the receipt of the input signals in order to cause the preset number to be transferred from the receiver to the counter.
