F-1812 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING A COMPOSITE PLASTIC MATERIAL Abstract A method and apparatus for producing a composite plastic material, and more particularly, a plastic film web and spirally-wound filaments which are adhesively bonded thereto so as to-constitute a composite of an improved plastic film having an inherently higher physical strength and resistance to tear of the film. The method and apparatus provides for adhesively bonding direction-oriented tapes or filaments to a tubular polymer film conveyed in the machine direction thereof, while employing a hot melt adhesive for adhering the tapes or filaments to the film web and to thereby enhance the physical properties of the produced composite plastic material film web in comparison with the characteristics of merely a non-reinforced film web.
